Singer Cheryl Cole is said to have consulted a hypnotherapist to get over her ex. Hypnotherapists have been helping the broken-hearted get over the pain and bitterness of a break-up
Almost everybody has his/her own ingenious ways to deal with a heartbreak. While some listen to sad songs and bawl their eyes out, others trash gifts and letters by their exes and go on a drinking binge! Each to his own, but it seems like some heartbreak victims are also making their way to the hypnotherapist’s couch in the hope to heal their hearts!
Recently Daily Mail carried a story on how singer Cheryl Cole is rumoured to have seen a hypnotherapist after her husband Ashley Cole cheated on her. Also, Strictly Come Dancing professional Camilla Dallerup used hypnotherapy to get over ex-fiancé Brendan Cole. While hypnotherapy has widely been used to break and curb addictions like smoking, drinking or over-eating, it’s now also being used to repair a broken heart!
Alternate healer and hypnotherapist says, “A broken heart means pain, it means dealing with loss, rejections and many such emotions. I have worked with many patients who were suffering from broken heart, or were going through a break-up at the time they approached me for therapy. I have dealt with teenagers going through a love life crisis, young adults facing problems, people going through divorce in the early years of their marriage and also couples married for 20-22 years who wanted to deal with their heartbreak and eventual divorce.”
Explaining how hypnotherapy works, psychologist and hypnotherapist Dr Sethi shares, “Our mind is divided into two parts — conscious and subconscious mind. While conscious mind helps us function with daily activities, deeper emotions and experiences penetrate into the subconscious mind. The cells in our body store good and bad experiences in the form of emotions and images. Through hypnotherapy, we access the subconscious mind and release those stored memories which are related to one’s ex, with forgiveness we let the person go. We help patients learn from their experience of heartbreak. Hypnotherapy helps break the emotional link between two people.”
She mentions a case she handled. *Priya, a banker, was deeply involved with a man. One of their common friends warned Priya about the guy. Her aunt brought her to me, she was depressed as she had not told her family about the guy and had been rejecting marriage proposals. All this led to her gaining weight. As therapy progressed, Priya took up another job, joined a gym, and was a changed person a few months later.”
There’s no more stigma attached to seeing a counsellor or a therapist to discuss your personal problem. It’s a sign of a mature individual who knows that ultimately he’s the only one who can reach deeper into his problem and dig out a solution.”
Some have also tried hypnotherapy to understand about their past. *Sneha Chadha, media professional, went to a hypnotherapist to understand why her relationships failed. “A friend suggested I try hypnosis to understand if there’s a past life pattern attached to all my relations. Initially, I was sceptical, but having undergone a few sessions, the revelation has surprised me. I understand clearly how law of karma has been influencing my present and today I am no longer bitter.”
